Forest school training

An exciting opportunity to learn about the Forest School ethos and learn how to become a Forest School Leader. This is a nationally recognised qualification, the course is aimed at people wishing to establish and run a Forest School. This course is accredited by the Institute of outdoor learning and all successful candidates will receive an approved practitioner logo upon completion. 

The course is 7 days including 2 practical skill assessment days. To gain the certificate you will need to attend all 7 training days and complete a portfolio of evidence. This certificate usually takes 9 months to complete so you will need time to complete this portfolio and you will be required to lead 6 Forest School sessions to the same group. Entry requirements for this award apply.
This certificate is worth 14 credits and to gain the certificate you will need to complete the following units:
- Supporting learning, play and development in the outdoors.
- Observation and evaluation of outdoor learning
- Sustainable use of natural resources
- Teach outdoor practical skills
- Forest School Leader

Please let us know if you cannot make a session, just drop us a text. If you do not attend for 3 sessions in a row we will assume you have left and give your place to the next person on the waiting list. We will give you as much notice as possible when we cancel sessions, texts and calls will be made to the contact number you provide us with.

The sessions will be running in most weather e.g. rain and snow, but in case of extreme weather events sessions will be cancelled due to safety. When sessions are cancelled you will receive a text or phone call before the session starts. Social media accounts will also be updated. So please ensure we have your up to date contact details.In these circumstances we will offer you a refund or you can come to the next session for free..

Please dress for the weather so if it is cold base layers, waterproof trousers and coat, gloves, hat, wellys. Please ensure that you/ your child wears old clothes that you do not mind getting dirty. In hot conditions please wear sun hats, sun cream, and insect repellent . There are brambles, ticks and stinging nettles on site so dress your child in long sleeves/ trousers. If your child is allergic to anything or has health issues you need to ensure we know about it and you bring appropriate medication for them.

For holiday clubs / all day events you and your child will need to bring packed lunch and a drink

At Newbottle wood please park in the layby along the road at the Newbottle end of the wood near the Muddy Feet Banner, the leader will be there to greet you and lead you to the site. Please park sensitively to other users.

At Evenley Wood Garden please use the car park provided
