This two-day course is designed to get you teaching outdoors. You will experience practical low-cost, nature-based outdoor activities linked to the EYFS, KS1 and KS2 curriculum. You will understand the benefits of holistic outdoor learning and understand environmental impacts. You will plan and prepare sessions, identify where these can take place and be able to identify the hazards and risks involved. You will need to deliver 3 outdoor learning sessions as part of this qualification, so you will need to have a group and site identified.

This course is assessed by portfolio and usually takes 6 months to complete. This course is 5 credits and you will cover the following units;

  • Deliver Curriculum-based Outdoor Learning
  • Sustainable Use and Management of Natural Resources

Entry requirements

  • Aged 16 years or over.
  • Level 1 qualification or equivalent (1 GCSE).
  • Current DBS Check.
  • A suitable First Aid qualification is useful.

What is Curriculum Based Outdoor Learning?
Teaching the curriculum outdoors, it’s not another subject it’s teaching outdoors.

Directions

Free parking is available in the car park at the wood’s main entrance, off the H7, opposite the Westcroft Centre (Postcode MK4 3GG). Electric car charging is also available.

There is a café at Howe Park Wood offering tasty hot and cold food and drinks.

Toilet facilities are available during café opening hours.
