This accredited Level 2 course is designed for individuals looking to lead nature-based activities in a variety of settings. Whether you’re working in education, community projects, or outdoor learning environments, this qualification offers a practical introduction to delivering engaging outdoor sessions.
Over four days, participants will develop key outdoor skills such as safe tool use, fire lighting, bushcraft techniques, and ecosystem awareness. The course also covers important areas, including risk assessment and planning nature-based sessions.
Assessment is based on tutor observations and a concise portfolio of evidence, making it accessible and manageable for busy professionals.
This course is ideal for Scout leaders, teachers, teaching assistants, support staff, rangers and others who want to run practical outdoor sessions. It provides a strong foundation for those looking to enhance their outdoor provision and safely deliver tool use and fire.
This course covers 5 units, including:
- The health benefits of being outdoors.
- Practical skills in the outdoors
- Personal safety when learning outdoors
- Exploring craft resources and techniques for outdoor learning
- Sustainable use of natural resources
- Delivering an outdoor learning activity.

17 or over
Level 1 Qualification or equivalent in any subject

This course is held at Howe Park Education Centre and Hazeley Wood, Milton Keynes
